Forest Management Certification

To give our neighbours, customers and the broader community confidence in our processes and outcomes, we submit our forest management practices to independent scrutiny through forest certification. TPPL has the following forest management certifications for both of its managed forest estates:

Timberlands Pacific Pty Ltd are certified under the Responsible Wood® Certification Scheme. The Australian Standard for Sustainable Forest Management® (AS/NZS 4708:2021) underpins and supports the Responsible Wood Certification System. The Taswood Estate has been certified since 2008 and the Penola Plantations Estate since November 2012. This standard is mutually recognised by the Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC).

Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Certification (FSC-C115692): TPPL achieved FSC certification covering both the Taswood Estate and Penola Plantations in December 2013.

We have implemented systems to ensure that:

  • There are the appropriate permits and plans in place to ensure all forest products are legally sourced and harvested and TPPL does not trade in any illegal wood or forest products;

  • Forest operations do not violate the traditional or human rights of communities within or surrounding the estates;

  • High Conservation Values identified within the estates are identified, protected and enhanced where appropriate;

  • There is no significant conversion of native forests to plantations or non-forest uses post 1996;

  • No genetically modified seed or plant material is used within the certified estates; and

  • There are no violations of International Labour Organisation (ILO)+ Core Conventions, as defined in the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (1998).
