Operations Manager

Shape the Future of Forestry with Timberlands Pacific

Timberlands Pacific is seeking a passionate and capable individual ready to take the next step in their forestry career — either as a Forester on the rise or an experienced professional ready to step into a managerial role. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction and best-practice management of nursery operations, silviculture, plantation establishment, and stand health and protection.

This role offers flexibility and breadth — allowing the successful candidate to lead or grow their skills in areas such as:

·         Tree breeding and nursery management

·         Research and development

·         Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

·         Operational reporting and capital forecasting

·         Budgeting and contractor relationship management

Timberlands Pacific provides world class sustainable forest management and operations, from establishment through to sales and marketing on a significant scale.

Our estates include Taswood Estate in Tasmania and Penola Plantations across the South Australian and Victorian borders. We are strongly committed to the regional communities in which we operate in and creating value for our clients.

The Role

Based in Mount Gambier, South Australia, the position is a key member of our Tree Crop team.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Provide strategic guidance and oversight for Timberlands Pacific’s Estate Nursery and Tree Breeding Program

·         Deliver accurate budgeting, forecasting and reporting on capital programs and project outcomes

·         Lead or contribute to plantation establishment and stand health monitoring

·         Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams, contractors and stakeholders

·         Provide expert advice and technical input across projects and operational planning

Timberlands Pacific is committed to sustainable land stewardship. In this role, you will also have the opportunity to:

·         Initiate and lead environmental improvement and rehabilitation projects

·         Support First Nations engagement and partnership initiatives

·         Contribute to Timberlands Pacific’s carbon store and emissions reduction programs

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in Forestry, Environmental Science or a related field

  • Relevant industry experience in forestry operations, nursery or silvicultural management

  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and stakeholders

  • Familiarity with GIS, forest information systems, plantation modelling tools and programming skills (desirable)
