Our People

TIMBERLANDS PACIFIC employs a total of 32 staff (based in Launceston and Mount Gambier) who draw on a solid foundation of knowledge and experience in the forest industry.  The combined expertise of our carefully selected management team covers the full spectrum of forest establishment, tending, harvesting, log manufacturing, sales and marketing of forest products, as well as financial reporting and compliance.

STEVEN BROWN, Chief Executive Officer

Steven executed the role of Financial Controller at Timberlands Pacific for six years prior to his appointment of Chief Executive Officer. For the eight years prior to this, Steven was employed at pharmaceutical manufacturer, Tasmania Alkaloids, an affiliate of Johnson & Johnson. Steven has a B.Com from the University of Tasmania and is a member of CPA Australia. 

 

DON AURIK, Tree Crop & Compliance Manager

With 29 years of experience in all fields of forestry, Don moved, with his family, to Tasmania in late 2004 to take up the role of Tree Crop Manager. Prior to this, he was the acting Regional Manager, responsible for 35,000 hectares of forest in the Southland and Otago district of New Zealand, with sales in excess of 500,000 tonnes and capital expenditure of over $4M per annum. Don qualified as a Forest Ranger and subsequently managed a number of multiple use forests and forest parks until the NZ Government Forest Service was disestablished in 1987. Since then he has carried out a broad range of management roles including technical, sales and tree crop growing.

 

KAINE ARKLEY, Resource Modeller

Kaine has provided his expertise in a variety of positions for several vertically integrated plantation companies both in the public and private arena. Roles have included coordination of forest pest surveillance, management of stand record systems and forest mensuration in both hardwood and softwood plantation systems. With Kaine's broad forestry experience, he has executed a number of roles at Timberlands Pacific including Forest Information Specialist, Harvest Manager, Technical & Planning Manager and now currently Resource Modeller. Kaine graduated in 2003 with a BAppSci (Hons) from the University of Tasmania.

 

ROBERT HANSSEN, Tree Crop Manager (Penola Plantations, South Australia)

Rob is a qualified Forester (BForSci, University of Melbourne) with 22 years experience in Germany and Australia in private and public organisations. Rob's previous roles have included consulting, plantation development and plantation inventory in roles such as Resource Analyst, Resource Forester and GIS Analyst. Rob is a member of the Institue of Foresters of Australia and a Registered Professional Forester (RPF®).
