More

Timberlands Limited manages a total of 225,000ha of FSC certified plantation forest on behalf of a number of internationally respected forest owners, including the world renowned 189,000ha Kaingaroa Forest - the largest plantation forest in New Zealand. On behalf of these forest owners, Timberlands supply large quantities and ongoing consignments of predominantly radiata pine to various domestic markets in the following products:

•    Pruned & AppearanceLogs
•    Structural & Framing Logs
•    Poles & Roundwood
•    Utility (A & K Grade)
•    Industrial (KI & Pulp Logs)
•    Chip

The owners of these forests consider the importance of long-term value and expect forest management planning to achieve a consistent and incremental harvest future. With this goal in mind and a sustainable FSC volume being produced from the Kaingaroa Forest, an even and consistent supply of export wood products can be assured all year round. This is achievable due to the central location and geographical features of the Kaingaroa Forest, including flat terrain and pumice soils creating a waterproof forest for year round harvesting.

Through operational contracts, Timberlands currently manage a harvest and transport regime of over 2.5 million m3 of log and chip products per year. A very effective supply chain is achieved through mechanised harvesting, including the Kaingaroa Processing Plant (KPP), which is suitably located right in the centre of the Kaingaroa Forest estate. The convenient use of an export yard, rail transport, efficient port facilities and controlled shipping provide further efficiencies and superior customer satisfaction.

Timberlands Standing Timber Sales programme is an alternative sales method to traditional delivered log sales and offers customers, harvesting contractors or traders flexibility and diversity in purchasing volume in the market. Sales are offered in the form of tendered Standing Timber Sale Areas of predominantly radiata pine and are varied in geographic location, topography and grade outturn. The programme offers national and international bidders the opportunity to develop their own dynamic efficiencies through the supply chain and therefore translate this to a favourable financial return.

The current programme promotes consistent quarterly offerings to the market. Purchasers are responsible for harvesting and distribution but can subcontract these operations to third parties.  Health, safety and environmental performance is governed around existing industry standards and Purchasers demonstrate their ability to meet these requirements through providing independent audits. Detailed information can be found in the guidelines of our Agreement for Sale and Purchase.

Interested parties can apply to become registered bidders through emailing the Standing Timber Sales Manager. Only reputable purchasers will be considered.
